Distribution

Endemic to southeast Asia: found in Indochina, Philippines, Indonesia, Greater Sundas and Sulawesi.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 5 subspecies^[1]:

• C. h. septentrionalis:

• Northern Philippines (north-western Luzon)

• C. h. zimmeri:

• Philippines (Luzon and Catanduanes)

• C. h. panayensis:

• Panay, Negros, Cebu, Leyte, Mindanao, Biliran and Palawan

• C. h. mayri:

• Sulu Archipelago (Bongao and Tawitawi)

• C. h. helianthea:

• Sulawesi, Salayar, Banggai and Sula islands

Habitat

Understorey of montane forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects, hawked aerially.
