• Dark slaty head
• White streaked cheeks
• Ivory bill
• White half collar
• Small crest
• Brown iris
• Pinkish feet

Distribution

Asia: found in China and Taiwan
Southeast Asia: Indochina and Vietnam

• S. s. semitorques:

• Mountains of southern China to northern Vietnam (north-western Tonkin)

• S. s. cinereicapillus:

• Taiwan

Habitat

Secondary growth and scrubland with large shrubs, 2000-2500m.
