Distribution

Sub-Saharan Africa: From Guinea-Bissau in the west to Ethiopia and Kenya in the east, and Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania in the south.

Subspecies

Pogonornis bidentatus has two subspecies^[1]:

• P. b. bidentatus:

• Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia to central Cameroon

• P. b. aequatorialis:

• Eastern Cameroon to Ethiopia, north-western Angola, northern Zaire and north-western Tanzania

Habitat

Rainforest, shrubland, gardens. Wooded areas with fig trees,.
