Identification

- Grey throat and breast, dark streaked

Distribution
South America: an endemic species to central Chile.
Taxonomy
This is a member of the Ovenbird family, Furnariidae.
Moved to the genus Pseudasthenes in 2010.[1][2]
Subspecies
Three subspecies are recognized[1]:
- P. h. goodalli:
- Andes of northern Chile (south-west Antofogasta)
- P. h. humicola:
- Northern and central Chile (Atacama to northern Maule)
- P. h. polysticta:
- Southern Chile (southern Maule, Concepci¢n and Malleco)
Habitat
It can be found in shrubby, matorral-like environment scrubland. Arid and semi arid scrub to 1200 m.
Behaviour
It is quite skulking, only occasionally coming out of the bush for a few seconds, to look for food in the ground.
