Distribution
Endemic to Fiji: found on Kandavu, Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and Taveuni.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
A common bird found everywhere from urban gardens to primary forest and open areas.
Behaviour
The forest birds are much less confiding than urban birds and will soon take flight if approached. In urban areas it is often seen feeding on the seeds of lawn grass.
Diet
Graminivorous, insectivorous, and also feeds on nectar and small berries.
