Distribution
Asia: found from Himalayas of Garhwal to northern Myanmar.

Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- D. s. shorii:
- Himalayas (north-western India to northern Bangladesh); western India (Western Ghats)
- D. s. anguste:
Habitat
They like mature deciduous and semi-evergreen forests.
Behaviour
Diet
They feed in mixed species flocks. But there is no other information available about their diet.
Breeding
They excavate a tree hole for their 2-3 eggs.
