Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Only recently described, in 2021.
Habitat
Breeding in deciduous forest (700 to above 1000 m asl), spreading to other areas outside of breeding season, but most often associated with Guadua or other bamboo species.
Behaviour
Food seems to include insects with seeds and fruit added on occasion. Seems to rarely join mixed species flocks.
Vocalisation
Song is described as having a simple, repetitive structure with little variation from one individual but more population variation. The female might be able to sing an identical song. The song is described as loud and the easiest way to notice the presence of the bird.
Calls include a high pitch Psit or more drawn out Pseet sound.
