Identification
Distribution
Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Three subspecies recognized:
- S. c. crassirostris from eastern Colombia east to Venezuela, the Guianas, and northern Brazil, and south to northeastern Peru
- S. c. magnirostris in eastern Venezuela (Delta Amacuro and northern Bolívar) and Trinidad
- S. c. occidentalis from western Colombia south to southwestern Ecuador
Formerly placed in genus Oryzoborus.
Habitat
Shrubland, swamps and forest.
