Identification
Breeding male: A masked weaver; the mask extends to the crown, but the nape and back are yellow; underparts orange-chestnut. Eye dark red.
Distribution
Restricted to Lake Lufira in the southern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Taxonomy
Monotypic.
Habitat
Reedbeds bordering Lake Lufira.
Status
Classified as Data Deficient in the 2008 IUCN Red List.1 Type specimen collected in 1960; otherwise unknown to science until "rediscovered" in 2009.2
