Identification
- Upperside greyish brown
- Wings darker with two buff wing bars
- Crown grey-brown with orange center (only seen when displaying)
- Face grey with dark Lore and pale area above
- Underside whitish with darker streaks on breast
Distribution
South America: west of the Andes in southwestern Colombia, western Ecuador, and northwestern Peru (south to southwestern Cajamarca).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly considered a part of Bran-colored Flycatcher.
Habitat
Light woodland to shrubby clearings and gardens. Found in Lowlands to quite high in foothills.
Behaviour
Essentially unknown but expected to eat insects.
Vocalisation
Dawn song describes as alternating two elements of which one is a two note whistle and the other a high frequency thin note. One element per second is the rule, and this can go on for minutes. At other times of day, listen for a high pitch laughing series preceded by a single whistle note.
