Identification
14 cm
- Dark slaty-blue head, breast and upperparts
- Bluish brow over dusky lores
- Fulvous flanks and vent
- White mid-belly
Distribution
An Indian endemic, only found in the Nilgiri Hills (north of Palghat Gap) in the southwest of the subcontinent.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly considered conspecific with White-bellied Blue Robin and placed in the genus Brachypteryx.
Habitat
Evergreen and shola forests near streams, also pine, wattle and tea plantations near shola forests.
