Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 6 subspecies^[1]:

• P. r. rufescens:

• Nepal to Bhutan, south-eastern Tibet, southern China, Bangladesh, Myanmar and India

• P. r. beavani:

• South East Myanmar to south-western Thailand and northern Indochina (Laos and Vietnam)

• P. r. peninsularis:

• South Myanmar and peninsula Thailand (Isthmus of Kra to Trang)

• P. r. objurgans:

• South East Thailand

• P. r. extrema:

• South Peninsula Thailand and Malay Peninsula

• P. r. dalatensis:

• South Vietnam

Habitat

Dry forests.
