Distribution

Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.

Subspecies

Clements recognizes these subspecies[1]:

  • S. e. erythrothorax: southeastern Mexico from Veracruz and Oaxaca through Yucatán Peninsula to northwestern Honduras
  • S. e. pacifica: Pacific lowlands of southern Mexico (Chiapas) to El Salvador

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.
