- Herpsilochmus rufimarginatus
Identification
10-12 cm.
- Upperside mostly grey in male, more olive to brownish in female
- Folded wings have coverts black with white edges forming two white wing bars on black background, and a bright rufous panel from the edges of the flight feathers
- Tail dark grey with white tip and outer edge
- Underside pale yellowish, more olive on flanks
- Head is mostly mottled medium grey and with black stripe through eye; this is well separated from the crown which is black in male and rufous-brown in female
Similar species
Other Antwrens and Rufous-winged Tyrannulet.
Distribution
Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. In all areas local but can be locally common. Some populations are widely separated from all others.

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat
Forests including secondgrowth, both interiors and less often borders, in foothills and lowland.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects and other smaller invertebrates. Frequently is found in mixed species flocks while feeding.
