Distribution
Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Taxonomy
Formerly placed in genus Rhinomyias.
Subspecies
There are 7 subspecies[1] in three groups. At least one of these have been split as a full species by some authorities:
Chestnut-tailed Jungle Flycatcher (Philippine) Cyornis ruficauda [ruficauda Group]
- C. r. samarensis:
- Philippines (Leyte, Samar and eastern Mindanao)
- C. r. boholensis:
- Bohol (Philippines)
- C. r. zamboanga:
- W Mindanao (southern Philippines)
- C. r. ruficauda:
- Basilan (southern Philippines)

- C. r. ocularis:
- Sulu Archipelago (Pangamican and Tawitawi)

- Montane forests of Sarawak (northern Borneo)

Moist montanes.
