Distribution
Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Taxonomy
Formerly placed in genus Rhinomyias.
Subspecies
There are 7 subspecies[1] in three groups. At least one of these have been split as a full species by some authorities:

- Philippines (Leyte, Samar and eastern Mindanao)

- Bohol (Philippines)

- Basilan (southern Philippines)

- C. r. ocularis:
- Sulu Archipelago (Pangamican and Tawitawi)

- North Borneo (Moun Kinabalu)

- Montane forests of Sarawak (northern Borneo)

Moist montanes.
