Identification
24 cm (9½ in)
- Silver-grey head and breast
- Dark blue wings, underparts and tail
- Bright crimson patch of orbital skin extending from forehead to crown
- Dull yellow bill
- Dark grey legs
Distribution
Seychelles endemic: occurs on Praslin, Mahé, Felicité and Silhouette.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
They inhabit what remains of stands of montane forests, mostly on Praslin and remote parts of Mahé.
Behaviour
Breeding
The female builds a platform from loose sticks in trees and shrubs. She generally lays a single egg, sometimes two.
Diet
Their main diet consists of fruit and berries.
