Identification
19 to 23 cm
- Glossy blue-black upperparts and tail
- White spots on the rump
- White underparts with buffy or pink tinge on the breast and flanks

Distribution
Southern Somalia (lower Shabeelle and Jubba valleys)
Taxonomy
Split from Tropical Boubou (along with Zanzibar Boubou) following molecular analysis.[2]
This is a monotypic species[1].
Molecular sequence data indicate that Bulo Burti Boubou (identified from a single specimen and originally described as Laniarius liberatus) is a color variation of Coastal Boubou.[2]
Formerly named Laniarius erlangeri.
