Identification
In breeding colour it has black and buff markings, a long tail, red bill and feet; out of breeding it loses the long tail, the bill and feet become a paler shade of pink. and it loses its markings.
Distribution
Southeastern South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, northeastern Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic[1] species.
Habitat
Dry savanna.
Behaviour
Its diet includes seeds which it scrapes from the ground.
