Olive brown, rufous tinged head and upperparts, olive tail, buff supercilium, white chin and throat steaked black, white underparts, grey sides of neck, olive brown sides of breast and belly, brown iris, bill black above, pink below, pink legs.

Formerly placed in genus Bradypterus.
Habitat
High altitude grassland, bamboo thickets, temperate coniferous forest edges, scrubland.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects.
The nest is placed in tall grass and 2 eggs are laid.
