Identification
Cinnamon-rufous underside, color extending up to about the eye. Crown dark grey mottled with greyish-brown showing less contrast in brightness than Madagascar Forest Rail. Also significantly larger than the latter.
Distribution
Patchily distributed in western Madagascar.
Taxonomy
This species is sometimes placed in genus Canirallus.
Subspecies
A monotypic species.
