Identification
Distribution
Turkey and Ukraine east to Mongolia and Afghanistan, and south to southern Iraq and Iran.
Taxonomy
This taxon was formerly included in Lesser Short-toed Lark (sensu lato).
Subspecies
Three subspecies are recognized[1].
- A. h. heinei
- Breeds from Ukraine and eastern Turkey east to eastern Kazakhstan and (disjunctly?) to southern Mongolia; wintering in the Middle East and southwestern Asia
- A. h. aharonii
- A. h. persica
- Southern Iraq and Iran to southeast Afghanistan
