Distribution
Northern South America: found in Colombia and Venezuela
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- P. f. festatus:
- Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia)
- P. f. fulgidus:
- Mountains of northern Venezuela
Habitat
Canopy and mid levels of humid forests, cloudforest, borders, clearings and second growth woods.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of fruit and berries. They have been noted to pick fruit from trees whilst in flight.
Breeding
They make use of cavities in old tree stumps, trunks and limbs of trees.
