- Yellow crown, cheeks, and throat
- Violet grey occiput and nape, extending as a stripe to eye
- Greenish-grey upper back and wings
- Blue lower back, rump, and upper tail-coverts
- Wings
- Violet blue primary and secondary-coverts, also inner secondaries
- Paler secondary-coverts
- Blue under wing-coverts
- Bluish-green undersides of flight feathers
- Greenish-yellow underparts
- Tail green above, dusky green below
- Horn bill with grey at base of upper mandible

Female: similar to male but paler. Lower back and rump pale blue; primary and secondary-coverts, secondaries, and bases to primaries green tinged with blue.
Distribution
South America: Endemic to Peru (dry scrub of upper Marañón Valley).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1], which used to be included in Pacific Parrotlet.
Habitat
Dry deciduous woodland, riparian thickets and desert scrub.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes the seeds of balsa trees and cacti, fruits and flowers.
Breeding
They nest in natural dirt and rock walls, in colonies, and 3-6 eggs are laid.
