Distribution
Southeast Asia: found in Indonesia, Moluccas
Australasia: New Guinea, Papua New Guinea
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are three subspecies[1]:
- C. s. rubrifrons: wider, more orange streaking on browner breast
- Aru Islands
- C. s. scintillata:
- South New Guinea (Triton Bay to lower Fly River)
- C. s. chloroptera: mostly green underwing coverts and lighter body with narrower streaking
- Upper Fly River to south-eastern Papua New Guinea .
Habitat
Lowland savanna, montane and secondary forests, mangroves, sago swamps and coconut plantations.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of nectar and pollen.
Breeding
They nest in tree hollows about 24 m above ground.
