NL reliability anecdotes / info: I hesitate to link this here, but I think it’s worthwhile (1 Viewer)

I don't really want to get involved in this discussion but, in the interests of balance, I had terrible problems with my Leica 8x20 Ultravid a few years ago. They had to be returned 4 times over a period of 18 months with 5 different problems - some of them introduced by the repairs themselves. Every manufacturer can have a lemon and then cock up the repairs. It did leave a bad taste at the time but I got over it.

I am still keen to know how often people clean their EL’s/NL’s with the soap and brush or mild detergent, water and a cloth.
Never. (EL 8.5x42 SV 2011)
They get washed the natural way when I'm walking through the rain.
But I don't use sunscreen or DEET.

Yes of course that's right, anyone will make an individual lemon at some point because these things are put together with engineering tolerances and by human beings of variable skill levels.

I was talking more about regular stories regarding systematic problems.

That sounds like it is from before the new armour formulation, so I doubt if you would have a problem anyway.

Yes, definitely before. I have no problems whatsoever, and my bins got loads of UV, rain, sweat, dust and sometimes quite rough handling (trekking, backpacking, wild camping etc) during the 13+ years that I have owned them.

People selectively dismiss tests or anecdotes that don’t align with their brand loyalties. I did this for years but have had enough problems with my “brand” that I’m well past that.
