I use this tripod with a 501 head to support a scope and finder scope weighing 2Kg. So the overall load at 3.5Kg is well within rated capacity. I have added another 1.5Kg camera to this with no adverse affects on stability.
In comparison to the aluminium leg version the legs show less deflection under a heavy (greater than rated) load.
Wind stability performance - despite its very light weight, side by side comparisons with the aluminium leg version showed them to be similar.
