Odd looking goose at Inverleith Park, Edinburgh

I'd be grateful if someone could clear up for me what this is. Thought at first a Canada goose but am confused by the pale eye ring, pink/yellow beak, the cheeks grey not white, the brown rather than black neck (and without ring delineating the breast). Thank you!

Birds of the World - Cornell subscription service

Has anyone used this, and if so, would you say the subscription price is worth it for someone UK - based? I know it’s intended to look world wide but I’m wondering - for instance - whether it is biased more toward the Nearctic and Neotropical. And how would you rate it for the depth of...

Any help in identifying these birds would be appreciated. Seen at the Tyninghame Estuary, East Lothian, Scotland, yesterday as the tide was coming in. Any help in pointing out the features that help towards your ID would be appreciated so I can learn for the future

I saw this pair in a tree in a park in Edinburgh, and couldn't identify them. They were much smaller than sparrows, and constantly moving (so, difficult to photograph!). Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance James

    Juvenile bird / Edinburgh, UK

I'm new to this - forgive me if this one is obvious: I saw this bird on the bank of the Water of Leith today, hopping about looking for insects. It was the size of a large sparrow I'd say.

    Buzzed by a tawny owl

This morning I was on a footpath above the Water of Leith in Edinburgh, photographing a wren, when I looked up and saw an owl flying straight at me, head-height, completely silent. As it got to about 10 feet away I tried to take evasive action, tripped and fell over 😂. As I did so it banked...
