    April Arizona Warbler

I shot these pictures of some kind of warbler in Arizona. At first I assumed it was a yellow-rumped warbler but that doesn't look right to me now. I'm curious if anybody is able to identify it from these pics?

    California Coast

I saw this bird off the coast of California on a boat ride out to the Channel Islands National Park last July and I'm wondering if it is an ashy storm-petrel vs a black storm-petrel? The first 2 pics are the same bird. I believe the 3rd pic is a different bird.

    Utah Warbler

I saw this warbler in Utah (Capitol Reef National Park) in the end of March of this year. I initially thought it was a yellow rumped warbler and didn't try too hard to get a good shot as it was moving too often. It was flying around in some flowering trees and I think it was feeding on the...

    Arizona USA in February

I recently saw these birds in southern Arizona and am wondering if anyone has an idea what they are? I'm not very good with sparrows (1st and 3rd). Having a hard time with the hawk as well. Northern harrier or a broad-winged?

    Arizona Hummingbirds

I saw these hummingbirds in southern Arizona a few days ago. I saw the first one in Madera Canyon and wonder if it could be a magnificent hummingbird. There was a male and female flying to and from the feeder and some people were saying they were magnificent hummers. I was struck by how large...

I saw this bird in Florida in February. It was sitting offshore a ways in the intercoastal waterway. I think it is some kind of loon or grebe? I apologize for the photo quality (or lack thereof haha). Thanks!

    Utah Sparrow in April

I saw this in Utah in April. I think it's a black-throated sparrow but the white stripes look thin enough that I wonder if it could be a five-striped sparrow? I realize this would be a little out of its range. Thanks!

Blue bird Utah, USA April 2013

I think this is a mountain bluebird? It occurred to me that it is (at least in my mine) a little bit similar to a pinyon jay. I saw it in Utah in April. Thanks!

Greater vs Lesser Scaup - Minnesota, USA

I took these back in April of this year in Minnesota, USA. I wonder if the first one could be a lesser scaup? The white band on its wing seems short enough to be consistent with that. #2-4 are the same duck and the forward peak of their head seems consistent with greater scaup? Thanks!

    Unknown Minnesota, USA

I saw this in my yard in Minnesota, USA in May. Not sure what it is. I would say some kind of sparrow but it seems to have too much yellow. Could it be some kind of warbler? Thanks!

Ducks in Minnesota, USA, early September

I was at the Minnesota State Fair a couple weeks ago and the DNR had a pond with several duck species that live in Minnesota (don't worry, they were free to fly away anytime they wished, I think). I was puzzled by these two ducks. Is the duck in the first two a Gadwall? I have no idea for #3...

Los Angeles, CA, US, hummingbird and wren

I saw this hummingbird today in Los Angeles, California. I think it is an Anna's Hummingbird? I'm having a difficult time differentiating between Anna's and Costa's hummingbirds. I think the wren is a Bewick's wren? I realize the photo quality isn't very great... Thanks a lot!

    Los Angeles, CA, USA, 6/19/12

I think the first one is a red-shouldered hawk? I believe the second bird is some kind of finch but I'm not sure which kind. I suspect it is either a purple finch, a house finch, or a Cassin's finch. Could 3rd and 4th pics be Oregon juncos? I saw them scavenging for food in a parking garage...

    Minnesota, USA sandpipers and gulls

I saw the first two birds in northern Minnesota a couple weeks ago. I think the first one is a spotted sandpiper and the second a solitary sandpiper? Are the gulls bonaparte's gulls? Thanks!
