    Sandpiper Barnegat, NJ 12-09-2023

This bird was on the Jetty acting like a Purple Sandpiper but looking like a Least without the brown on the breast. Any thoughts?

Flycatcher identification - Bombay Hook, Delaware 8/6/2022

There is discussion about the bird in these three picture. Some insist that is a Willow Flycatcher, others an Eastern Pewee. The Pewee camp says it has long wings, the Willow camp say it has a pale undertail cover and not enough smudging on the breast. Any thoughts? Thanks, John

Small finch type bird in Bavaria, off Main River, 06-18-23

This bird was near a bunch of Greenfinch, but I am thinking it may be a Serin. Not the best picture, but no yellow and a gray bill. Thanks, John

Raptor in Bavaria June 15, 2023

I saw this raptor at a distance and thought Sparrowhawk or Harrier. I got two distant pictures and neither seems to fit the bill, any thoughts? John

Shorebird Id's Pak Thale Nature Reserve Thailand 2/20/23

Two of these pictures are of the same group of birds. In one, there is a larger bird with its head up and a longish bill, somewhat near the center, possibly a Godwit. In the second, there is a small, speckled bird about 1/3 from the left edge and I am wondering if it is a Dunlin, it seems to...

Kaeng Krachen Thailand, maybe flowerpeckers 2/17 &18, 2023

Not very nice pictures, but possibly the bills can give a hint as to what they are. Thanks,

White-faced Plover? on Laem Phak Bia sand spit Thailand 2/19/23

My guide said this was a white-faced plover, but neither Merlin or iNaturalists agree, they call it Kentish. It does seem to have a higher forehead and whiter face than the other Kentish I saw. Which is this? Thanks, John

Drongo from Kaeng Kratchen NP Thailand 2/17/23

I thought this was either a Sooty or Blackish Drongo in the Ashy Drongo family, but now I am questioning my identification.

Flycatcher Cape May, NJ Oct. 2, 2021

This flycatcher popped up but didn't stay long, unfortunately, a branch through the eye makes it tougher. It appears to have a yellow wash on the neck, but that may be an artifact of the early morning lighting. Thanks

Western or Semi-palm sandpipers Stone Harbor, NJ October 2, 2021

These very plain sandpipers have me confused, some are saying semi-palm others western. They were with a bunch of Sanderling on the beach and several of these peeps. The bill seems to droop slightly, but doesn't look as long as I would have thought. Thanks,

    Warbler, Rangeley Maine August 27

I should know this warbler, but am drawing a blank. Merlin thinks it is an Orange Crown Warbler, but it appears to have a wing bar Which would eliminate Orange Crown.

Young shorebird New Zealand November 2019

This bird has me confused, the black on the breast is throwing me off. It appears to be a juvenile bird, maybe a Dotterel. Seen on the South Island somewhere between Kaikoura and Akaroa.

Ocean birds from ferry between N & S Island of New Zealand 11/9/2019

These are birds spotted from the ferry between islands. I'm guessing Juvenile Kelp Gull for the first, but the head looks off. I'm guessing Westland Petrel or White-chinned Petrel for the others, but the one picture seems to show the underside and it appears light. Thanks,

Shorebirds in New Zealand Nov. 2019

The first two pictures are the same bird slightly different angle. I think it may be a youngster but am not sure. The other two pictures are of a group of Bar-tailed Godwits with smaller birds in with them. I am trying to figure out what the small birds are. These were taken on the Scraped...

Common or Jackal Buzzard Suikerebosrand SA Feb26, 2109

WE are having a difference of opinion as to whether this bird is a Common (Steppe) Buzzard or a Jackal Buzzard. Any opinions and why? The last picture is a different bird taken near Kruger NP two days later

Passerine froom Kruge National Park March 2, 2019

These are not the best pictures, but hopefully someone can help with Iding this bird. I'm including all of the angles I caught. The pictures were all in a row although the first one is three minutes earlier than the other three, so it may be a different bird. Thanks

    Cisticolas Kruger NP area 3/2/2019

Cisticolas are tough, any help on these will be appreciated. I tried to provide two views of each bird to show as much as possible.

Kruger NP area Early NMarch 2019

Sorry for the really bad picture, but I am wondering if the sandpiper disappearing into the weeds is a Pectoral, based on the shape of the dark and light on the tail. I am guessing Sabota Lark for #2. I assume the Vulture is a juvenile White-backed, but there is so little white, that I wanted...

Passerines from Kruger NP area 2/28/2019

The first two are the same bird hopefully giving additional detail. My first guess was Monotonous Lark, but I changed to Rattling Cisticola because the breast looked too clean. I think the swift may be a Horus Swift, the tail seems to have a slight fork. The last bird I am not even sure where...

Weavers and allies Kruger NP 2/28/2019

The first two pictures are the same bird but it wouldn't give me a good shot of the face and eye. Bird 4 is very yellow like 1 & 2, but shot at a different time. Birds 3 & 5 may not be weavers, I guessed on 5 as a female widowbird, but the face looks off to me.

    Cisticolas Kruger NP 2/28/2019

The first two are the same bird, I wanted a front and back of head shot. The same with birds three and four. Bird five is a different bird than the others. I guessed Zitting Citticola because they were common but we had others too.

    Raptors from Kruger NP 2/28/2019

Quelea's were nesting in the millions and raptors were everywhere feasting. Unfortunately, they all look the same to me and the morning was a little dark and foggy. I think the first one is a Lesser Spotted Eagle. Two and three are different birds, but I think possibly Steppe Eagles. The...

Passerines from Kruger NP area 2/27/2019

The tail on bird 1 looks like a Bee-eater, but the color of the back is all wrong. There were thousands of Red-billed Quelea around, but this one looked different, maybe female Red-headed or one of the many widowbird females. Bird 4 was called out as a Forked-tailed Drongo, but it looks more...

    Raptors near Kruger NP 2/27/2019

My thinking is that since they are so common and variable, that the first two pictures are Common Buzzards, but I just want to be sure since they do look different than others I saw. The next two pictures I thought were eagles, but the face of the one has me confused. The final picture I think...

Raptors from just west of Kruger NP 2/25/2019

Bird 1 appears to be an accipiter, but hood and it looks like vertical striping is odd. Bird 2 I think is an eagle of some sort. Bird 3 I thought Buzzard, but am wondering if it isn't a Vulture instead. Sorry for the poor quality, they were distant and light was tough for photography
