    Young kingbird in New Mexico?

Howdy This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking the tail feathers and body look like a Western Kingbird, but the beak is all wrong. Is it a young bird? This was spotted at Clayton Lake near Clayton, New Mexico towards the end of August. Thank you

Identify Texas panhandle bird by its call

A friend wants to know what kind of bird frequents her farm house in northwest of Amarillo, TX, near the New Mexico boarder. This audio is from a video she sent me. You cannot see the bird very good in the video, but she says it has a rather large curved beak. Thank you

    Dark Morph? from Texas

Howdy Dalhart is frequented by Red Tailed Hawks, Northern Harriers, the occasional Ferruginous Hawk, Mississippi Kites, and Swainson's Hawks, along with a variety of falcons. I feel like this is a dark morph Red Tailed, but I am not sure. The white under the wings (A) was very noticeable, as...

    Colorado hummingbird ID help

Howdy. I got these pics at Lake Isabel in Colorado this past may. Based on color and range, I am pretty sure it's a Broad-tailed Hummingbird. It has a red neck when the light hits it just right, as you can see in the 2nd photo. It made a buzzing noise as it flew past. What say you, bird...

    Two unknown Swallows

Delia - thank you for fixing the title. I appreciate it. Gretchen - I only caught these swallows once lounging on the fence. I had to sneak up on them, but managed to get several good photos before they decided to fly off. After that, they were always busy flying around like... uh, well...

    Two unknown Swallows

Yah, I can't believe I spotted the only Tree 'Sparrow' ever documented! Lucky me :D The typos were flying yesterday. I edited my original post about 5 times, and the title is still wrong on the forum page. Oh well.

    Juvee Red-tailed hawk, perhaps?

Wow. Of course it is. Gray head, brown strips, yellow beak with black tip. Funny how you get an idea in your head and it clouds everything. This would mark the first time I found one alongside the Lake. I usually only see them in town.

    Juvee Red-tailed hawk, perhaps?

Howdy In Dalhart, we have Red-tailed Hawks and Northern Harriers at the lake. In town, we see Mississippi Kites during the summer. Just outside town, Swainson's Hawks soar. Thus, I'm betting this is a pic of a Juvee Red-Tailed. What is throwing me is the rufous feathers up the chest instead...

    Two unknown Swallows

Howdy Ever try to get a picture of a swallow in flight? It's a great way to spend a morning, if you like exercising futility and what not. However, I did nail a shot of this swallow. Question is, can you ID it from the back feathers alone. I'm thinking Northern Rough-Wing due to the all brown...

    Olive-sided flycatcher, perhaps?

Barking up wrong Flycatcher family tree? Cornell's allaboutbirds.org says Eastern Pewee has "No eyering or only a faint one", and then it says "Distinguished from Empidonax flycatchers by weak, broken eyering and dirty smudging under tail." Cornell's website mentions nothing about an eye ring...
