    Help Starlings Gretna

Can anyone please help me with info regarding the Starling flock at Gretna. I want to visit this weekend but I am unsure of the precise location and of the best time at which to see them coming in to roost. I don`t even know if they are still gathering or have moved elsewhwere.

    Geese? Irvine

Can anyone help regarding 4 geese which i saw on Friday at Irvine harbour? One was completely white and has a stocky red or deep orange bill and legs. One appeared to be a standard White Fronted, but couldn`t see any black lines on underbelly. One was what can only be described as a 50/50 of...

    Hidden hide and 6 lifers

A casual lunchbreak at Musselburgh on the 5th of this month and I finally stumbled across a path leading to the hides (covered every other path there loads of times). [B]What categories of birders are there?

What categories of birders are there? I`ve often been referred to by friends as a twitcher - but in all honesty i ain`t gonna be classed in that group at least until i retire. I do have a keen interest in birds, but have often wondered - what `group` of birders would i fall into? Casual...

    Escaped or released?

Has anyone seen a bird escaped or released living happily wild and free? I`ve seen a few strange ones myself, but the oddest i heard of was a few years back - a pair of Flamingo sitting on top of a Glasgow tenement block. Inflatable dummies the viewer thought at first until they began preening...

    Looking for Puffin

On a visit to the scottish east coast i was delighted to witness first hand the breathtaking cliffs and seabird colonies of Crawton. However i dipped out on spotting a Puffin. There are usually a couple of hundred around according to the info. board at the start of the clifftop, but none were to...

Have you got a favourite bird `family` that you like to watch?

Probably because they seem quite intelligent and are easily viewed i enjoy watching crows the most, but i also enjoy watching Finches and Thrushes- the latter are almost like mini crows in some respects i think. Least like to watch gulls (except when squabbling with crows) - does anyone notice...
