A Dilemma - to distract from all that snow

I received it from a friend who's also a semi-pro photographer, so I fell for it hook, line and sinker ........ then pow the punch line LOL ;)

A Dilemma - to distract from all that snow

Here's a dilemma for you.... This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will be able to test where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation...

    Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Hi Ken, I know what you mean, I only recognised the one I saw because of the way it was flying and hovering. ;) Tony

road deaths, can they be avoided.

Hi Gill, I think it would be safer to ask your instructor, ye olde Highway Code says word to the effect of you should always drive in a way that you can stop before hitting any object on the road. The road is the footpaths, grass verges, etc and not just the tarmac bit we drive on. If you hit...

    Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Hi Surreybirder, you did really well to spot it were you searching for something or track it from in flight? I agree its a hell of a job to photograph it in flight and I bow down to those that manage to. I tried to follow my spotting with the lens and gave up. As Harry said it really is...

Souths Moths of the British Isles Vol's 1&2

Hi Trevor, with books like yours I think I would contact a local auction house first. A quick look on the web has more modern publications and academic sources referring back to them. Tony

    Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Hi Birdman, Many thanks for this posting, I was testing a new macro lens today and because of this thread recognised a Hummingbird Hawkmoth in flight at Totnes. See what you mean about fast. I didn't waste film trying to capture it in flight, but a few minutes earlier I photographed an...

    Choughs back in Cornwall

Hi Aquila, Just been reading all the posts on the Cornishwildlife Group, makes interesting reading. It really is beginning to look in practice that English Nature, The National Trust, and the RSPB were correct. Alas as usual it's the birds that suffer. Tony

    Spell checker for XP ?

Ian many thanks for asking. Robin many thanks for the info. This should save me the pain of switching between word and IE. Expect I'll still make errors, but at least I won't have had to do all that switching to make them :t:

    Sobig virus wreaks e-mail havoc

Hi Michael, Sorry it didn’t work. For once I was actually hoping I had been proved wrong when you got both to load. It would have at least shown that some software can work together instead of always having to take over. :-C Tony

    Hedgehog!!

For such a ground hogging critter, if you get a chance to see them run or climb an obstacle it is amazing. They can really stride out and stretch to about twice their length to climb. Well worth seeing ;)

Blurred photos with Canon 100-400 with teleconverter?

The make of teleconverter also makes a difference and number of Elements it has, alas we don't have that info. It could be they are not as compatable as they should be ;)

    I'm gonna love this

Hi Woody, looks like we are going to be treated to some wondeful shots once you get the hang of it. This is better than many peoples first shots with conventional photography. :t:

    Registered company?

Hi Pete, My simple answer is I find it easier just to let the taxman know I intend to make at least some money from photographs and have a separate personal account for any transactions. Also keep any receipts for kit purchased, processing, travelling, etc to offset against any tax you may...

    Okay all you numbers guys

Hi KC, a while back I studied psychology and spent a lot of time taking and writing IQ type tests. At the end of it we all could get high mensa scores because we knew what to look for LOL Some of them I already knew and others I could reason out by the methods used for writing tests. ie the...

    Okay all you numbers guys

Hi Dennis, I found it by accident and with my typing mistakes or it not reading as I meant it really is useful. Do you have 100 cents to anything beginning with R in the States? Tony
