    Pine Marten??

My son has just set up a camera trap at the back of our garden, and although he has put some food out, this animal didn't stop for the food.... he seemed to be passing by. I've combined three images unto one, as he approaches the camera and then walks away. I can't see his face at all...

On our way through Germany and Austria last Summer, these tunnels in the grass were very common at layby stops...... As we don't really have Voles where I come from (N.Ireland), and I assume these were made by voles, can anyone tell me which species normally does this. Many thanks, Keith.

I'm sure the subject has been discussed before, tho' I can't find it. Is there such a thing as an Electronic Grouse Call? In the area where I cut turf, there are quite a few grouse, and in the Spring time the males are calling and displaying. I was thinking of erecting a hide and using a...

    40D - AF won't work...

I've searched through the messages but can't find this problem - tho' maybe there is a thread on it somewhere..... I'm using a Canon 40D, and 2 days ago the Auto focus wouldn't settle on the subject - sometimes it would, but mostly it wouldn't. This happened in good light, and good contrast...

    Treecreeper at feeders

Here's a couple of shots of a treecreeper that's visiting our feeders. I've made a tripod shaped feeding station out of branches, and the little fellow comes every day - initially he'd start off at the bottom of the branch and work his way up, but now he's flying straight to the feeders. Keith.

    Fair Isle 1960 Photos ??

I purchased a quantity of transparencies taken in the late 1950's early 1960's, and notice that about 100 of them were taken on Fair Isle. What do you folk do when you're away on a holiday with no computer? I'm off in a few weeks time to an offshore island off the coast of Ireland - and intend to be there for a few days. I suppose the best option is to invest in a portable hard drive. Amazon have these for sale without the...

A Curlew in the foreground - Philip Coxon

Almost finished this book, and I've really enjoyed it. An RSPB warden's season on North Uist back in the 70's, tho' it was written in the 80's. Sadly, the author seems to have passed away just before it was published. Secondhand of course. I've really enjoyed reading it. Keith.

    How's it done?

Here are a couple of oil paintings by John Trickett (I hope he doesn't mind). I'm always trying to figure out how a painting is executed - and gain a few tips in the process. I've only had the privilege of viewing a few original 'Tricketts', and when I did, I've had a close look at the canvas...
