    Goosander or RB Merganser

    Thoughts on this bird welcome. Looked smaller than Mallard in the field, which drew attention as the is a RB Merg in the area. This bird shows a dark reddish head, apparenty contrasting clean belly and cleancut division at pale throat and rather thick bill base, thus a Goosander?
