Ferry Stockholm to St Petersburg?
Hi, it looks like the St Peter line runs 2 times per week Stockholm - St.Petersburg. Another option is that there seems to be a high speed train service from Helsinki to St.Petersburg, there are many ferries between Stockholm and Helsinki so that might suit your schedule better. //Björn -

http://uof.nu/ is problably the "closest" club (Uppland). I don't know the area too well but Övre Föret in Fyrisån, just south of Uppsala is a nice place... -
Panasonic FZ150
Mm.. seems they are quite equal uality wise. Saw someone here that said it would be quite front heavy with DMW-LT55E, but the same might be true with TCON-17 as well? Btw, which adapter is used with the TCON? LA5 as with the pana?. //Björn -

Hi, haven't really made any progress, life got inbetween :) Wasn't able to unscrew the outer metal part from the plastic tube, need to try and recruit some strong hands to help me.. I'll report back once I get some progress. Happy new year! //Björn -

In Sweden we haven't really dared to venture to the hybrid theory, mostly because it seems to belong to the two other Grebes like a family. And there are not much evidence of BH/Slav hybrids earlier, saw one possible hybrid mentioned in Scotland 1973, as well as some lists mentioning that they...- pinussen

Yep, sure is a difficult bird :) And differnt pictures of it shows it in different ways... The face pattern is quite different from a normal BH, more like a slav. Same with the beak colour, white tip.- pinussen

Hi, We have a strange Grebe currently just outside Stockholm. It hangs around with two Slavonian Grebes. Some ppl are sure it's a deviant Slavonian, some it's a strange Black-necked. Tonights progress: I couldn't get the outer ring to move at all, probably due to the dent. Had to destroy it to get it out... The lower ring could be removed quite easily but taking a piece of steel plate that fit the notches and turning. Below were a steel ring and below that a big o-ring... -

Better pic maybe, hard to photograph the lens. Most of the smudge is along the edge. However there is also something that looks like frost or fog, fungus? Only seen when the light reflects on it. There also is something that could be a crack. It also looks like a liquid so I don't know :)... -

Yep, some parts are available but I think just sending it off to the repairers for a cleaning cost about £100. And then you need parts on top of that if they are available. Now I have a nice "back part" that I can mate with the 824 front, i.e if I can't get this front and the prism on the 824... -

Why not, it was "only" £127 :) If it could be fixed I would have a great "previous version" top of the line scope extra, if not I could use the parts to fix my 824. Spare parts for these are for some reason very hard to find, so if I can make it work I have saved a really nice scope :) //Björn -

Found a "broken" TSN-823 on ebay, sticky and stuff on the lenses etc. Snapped it up for £127 :eek!: Worst case I could use it to fix my 824: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=213304 It arrived today and ofcourse I ripped it apart to try and fix it. So, why not document it a bit to help... -

I'm supposed to be able to take the scope in half? Didn't know that, it unscrews at the red ring? Tried to unscrew as hard as I can but it won't budge. Looks like the repair guy put silicone there and in the back plate joint, not glue. Still, silicone is better than glue :) There is only glue... -

Hi Not sure which is the rotating collar, where the mount is? That could save me :) I thought the scope was taken apart by undoing the sight/screw and the removing the back plare, ie the part that holds the ep, ca two inches long. The sight (which doubles as a screw mount) was cracked so that... -

Let us know how it turns out, I have the same (or similar) problem on my 824. Something (prism?) is loose but falls in the correct place if I have it with the focuser up, not too big a problem on a straight scope though. Have to give it a hit sometimes to get it correct, a bit nerve wrecking. A...
