    Zen Ray ZRS HD

I can understand your frustration. However, I would have to agree the others. Give the company the opportunity to make it right. You might be surprised with the response you get. ;)

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

Interesting. I don't remember noticing that issue so much as the color bias.

Thank you Ed. I was just reading it on another browser.

Ed, I, too, would be interested in hearing further comments from you on the ZRS model.

:-) I know the phrase. Still, it could also be that your expectations of the bins and their performance just don't match. It wouldn't be the first time...for myself as well.

I would be interested in hearing further comments of yours either about the ZRS or if you decide to upgrade to the Zen EDs.

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

I am not stirring that pot again.... ;) Do a little forum search and read some of the past threads comparing the Zen EDs to the Zeiss, Leica and Swaro models. You will see people that have owned and/or own both make some very interesting comparisons. You do still have that 30 day return policy...

Longbow, I cannot really fault any of your observations for several reasons. 1) I have never tried the 10x ZRS 2) The 8x certainly performed better than the typical $300 roofs (even though they are only $200) but I would not say that they are the equal of the $1000+ roofs. The reddish/orange...

Thanks for posting the update. I have to agree that for the $180 that the ZRS are selling for they are truly tough to beat. They easily beat binoculars at their current price point and several hundred dollars more.

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

The ZRS is an unusal binocular in my opinion. From my limited experience with it I noticed the red/brown bias. Initially I thought it interferred with my ability to see fine details. It doesn't. I do seem to have to look a bit harder to see them but they are still there. It doesn't seem to be a...

Ah well, I changed my mind and ordered the Pentax 8x33 XP instead. More to follow on that one.

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

The 8x32 SP is a beautiful little bin and one of my favorite 8x32s short of the big name Zeiss, Leica and Swaros. I could easily be content with it as a full time bin. I don't mind stray light issues as much as Kevin so that non-ED Elite has me a bit intrigued. I need to find them on Ebay and...

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

Steve, I honestly forget, did you have the non ED Elite from Promaster? I wouldn't mind doing a comparison between the Promaster Infinity Elite (non-ed) and the Zen Ray ZRS. I think you may be right in that the ZRS would come out on top as it seems like a more sophisticated design but it would...

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

True, the flat field design would probably require a compromise or two but mmx does have the right of it a bit. The 8x ZRS is wider in field of view than most of the $300 roofs so why couldn't the 7x version at least equal many of the 7x42 roofs that came before it? Say, 420 feet or so? Again...

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

What about a 7x42 ZRS? Considering the small number of 7x42s on the market (not to mention affordable ones) I can smell another untapped market. ;)

I hope you are wrong with that one.... ...but somehow I think you are probably right.

Please tell us what you think of them when the time comes.

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

Now that was a smart idea. I would be willing to sacrifice a few feet of close focus to have more play with the long distance focusing. I hate that feelling of not having enough to tinker with in terms of adjusting the focus...especially at longer distances.

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

Hmm, this sounds similar to something I noticed with my second pair of Vortex Diamondbacks. I had no problem, in general, with the focus but did notice that the binocular's focusing knob did not really move but a fraction past infinity. I always thought I was going to run out of room before the...

I agree. That is a bit of a disappointment. They are usually excellent with checking the exchanges/repairs that they do....at least they were when I sent the Razors back for repairs a couple years ago.

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

Very nice write-up. I used the ZRS for some of the GBBC as well...along with the Zen EDs. Both bins performed admirably for the circumstances I put them into.

Now that is what I call service. ;)

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

Kevin, Good point and I think it all has to do with a person's frame of reference. I don't claim to have a huge amount of experience with the vast amount of optics out there (thinking beyond just binos here). Judging by some comments Henry has made at times I have a feeling that there are...

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

My view on the ZRS are somewhere between Kevin's and Steve's as I have different impressions in different areas. Kevin and I, and I think Steve, agree on the color bias but I think that is the only area that all three of us share the same viewpoint. The size of the sweet spot in my unit is very...

    Zen Ray ZRS HD

I received my ZRS unit today as well. I had very little time to do any real tinkering with them at this point. My initial experiences tend to mirror everone else's at this point Optically.... - Huge sweet spot - Flat image - Slight reddish color bias Physically.... - Lighweight for a full...
