You can get a songthiew directly to Khao Yai from Pak Chong from outside the 7-11. But note that there are 2 7-11s on the main road !!! This confused us. You want the western one (nearer Bangkok). It's a cheap ride and gets you just to the gates from where it's an easy hitch to the campground.

Not quite sure of that Jacana. It sorted us out with Mekong Wagtail and Jerdon's Bushchat for a start, and we didn't really get into the great unexplored bits that probably have who knows what to find still. Devoid of birders though more like. Well almost. Keep at it Fay.

Really sory to hear about the pelagic trip Fay. If you get a spare day in Sydney it might be worth getting the ferry to Watson's Bay or Manly for some seawatching, especially if the wind's still up. Might get a new seabird or two yet.

At Bukit Timah there's a big fig tree right at the top of the track that apparently is a good bet for Red-crowned Barbet if it's fruiting. It wasn't fruiting when we were there , and I still need it, so make me jealous!

Nice one VB and best of luck. Have you got time to try the NW of Sentosa island (viewed from mainland) for Great-billed Heron while you're in Singapore? We dipped but you might have more luck. When you get to Oz some of the libraries have free internet (we're in a free one in NZ now!) Hope...
