#2 granddaughter had two Bengals, one got old & died. I never met them, but I gather they can be a challenge. Grandson-in-law built them a nice outdoor “cat house” with an enclosed walkway into the house. They live in Virginia, so the climate is milder.

I went looking and found that Oslo had a new record of -31.1°C Colder than I’ve ever seen it. About -15°F is my lowest.

That is absolutely correct for you, and might be for me, but I suspect not for all. (See Post #448 and #457)

The line between a tool and a crutch is a slender and flexible one, and is highly dependent on the individual.

I have found “progress” to be a very tricky word, similar to words like “better”, “value” and so on.

This strikes me as analogous to the “amateur astronomers” who can’t find the first-quarter moon, an hour after sunset on a cloudless night, without a computer controlled telescope.

Elevation as in feet/meters above sea level, or you are looking up or down at an angle of so many degrees?

Many years ago, I took the train from Oslo to Bergen and back, up over the mountains and through the snow sheds. Indescribable beauty, which has to be experienced first hand. No photography or video can capture it.

Let us not overlook inflation here. Simply put, a unit of currency no longer buys what it did, even in the recent past. According to my dad (b 1909) when he was a lad, his dad brought home a $20 gold piece and a silver dollar every week. My grandparents owned a house and educated three sons.

It is not, and was not an “argument. It was a simple statement of fact, and consequently neutral. It seems that it was you who turned it into an argument, in order to refute it.

The whole point of any and all optics is to see better, so I can't understand why image quality isn't at the top of every list. But there are many things I don't understand ...... that is just one of them.

I can foresee a large number of arguments, where one party says “But that’s what my Visio says that bird is, and I paid more than $5,000 for it.“ Many have a touching faith in technology, especially those who are lost without it.

Thanks. I just call those “tweety birds” as opposed to ducks, hawks, and herons, the only relevant types of birds.

Heretofore, hybrid camera/binoculars have not been very good examples of either one. It remains to be seen if this one will be different. Looking through one, and seeing photos taken with one, will settle the matter, not spec sheets and PR puff pieces. Who among us will bite first?

Sort of like saying we need a £20,000 Bentley. Some things are possible, and others are not. (with today’s technology, and the laws of physics permitting) Nor would I ever pay $4,000 for anything with the Celestron name on it.
