Looks like we can still learn a lot by reading these discussions. But aside from what has been suggested, I also wonder whether you have sufficient contrast. I notice that the camera often has problems at close to max zoom, and it might be that it loses some contrast as the picture tends to get...

That's interesting. Never noticed it. It always seemed to just take longer. Need to give it a try. Thanks!

zoom lever durability? As I had posted in a separate thread, the zoom lever on my camera has a tendency to stick, particularly on the left or wide angle side. It's annoying when zooming, but also when checking crops on pictures already taken. I have since tried to apply a bit of WD-40 spray...

You should find the videos anyway. Just search for my Youtube name: piebstrains1. There are 128 videos, but I hope you'll get them in chronological order. At any rate those that I uploaded in 2012 are FZ150 videos. If it still does not work, I'll try to post some links for individual videos.

Simon07: Rather than posting some reduced pictures, I think you should look at some of the videos I posted on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=mhum The link should show the listing. All the ones of this year were taken with the FZ150 in HD light mode. Full HD takes up too much...

Focus issues I had a chance for a short video of a rare bird yesterday. But I was unable to get it into focus. It turned out I accidentally had the side switch on MF but did expect it to be on AF. I think I mainly keep forgetting that side switch, but maybe yesterday's experience will have...

These are definitely fine pictures. But I wonder whether you had the focus problems with your teleconverter on? Or was it the same without the converter? I think the converter further reduces contrast, thus probably contributing to the focus problems?

Very nice picture. And I'm impressed of the result. Did you take several pictures with many worse ones, or is this the one you took and it turned out this well?

Thank you both for your helpful information. I'll most likely get something along these lines, though not right now. First need a new tripod for my scope.

Thanks for this info, I had also been wondering about such a device. I had never heared or read of it. So do I understand it correctly that this is NOT a laser pointer? But that one aims through that frame on top of the device? Also, could you provide a link to a "hot shoe sliding plate"...

    Panasonic FZ150

I have no idea as I think the tele capability of the FZ150 does not need another boost. Particularly since I usually operate the camera without a tripod. So I have never looked into that. But I assume there are others who know. Otherwise, you might search the dpreview forum...

Some impressions I have not really reported about my impressions with this camera yet, I think. I have had this camera now for around five months. At the beginning, I kept using my FZ35 because it is more compact. But I have then gradually switched over to the FZ150. It still is not as easy to...

Card and battery cover? A rather little thing on the side that I find annoying all the same. The lid for the card and battery compartment has an awkward opening mechanism. On my previous FZ models (FZ7, FZ8, FZ28, FZ35/38) There has always been the same practical cover that was easy to open in...

    Panasonic FZ150

From the reviews I've read, the FZ150 is supposed to be much better regarding image quality than the FZ100.

    Panasonic FZ150

Rather mixed feelings here. I finally got my FZ150 as well. And I must say that I have some mixed feelings about this camera. For one thing, the camera is considerably heavier, and also a bit bulkier than my FZ35. Just enough to no longer make for comfortable handling with my rather small...

Wait till you get the hang of doing HD videos. ;) Oh, and a spare battery is always a good idea! I would never be without one. Can't help you with your main questions (yet).

    Panasonic FZ150

Can't answer the first part, but I have wondered about that too. As for the viewfinders, the one most important feature on ANY camera to me is an EVF, or an optical one for that matter. But one that allows to stabilize the camera while taking pictures or videos, and one that works under all...

Ok, mine is on the way now. It will still take a bit till I actually have it though.

    Panasonic FZ150

Great news, indeed. Not sure what the izoom feature brings, though. But that manual focus is exactly what I need. Now if only the EVF were a bit better to allow more precise focus adjustments. I notice, by the way, that the price of the camera is starting to drop a bit. At least on US internet...

ric alexander WELCOME to BirdForum. And thanks for sharing your experiences. I fully support your opinion that one needs a spare battery. I'd guess a single spare would do for most regular users though. You certainly have added to my confidence that this ought to become my next camera. :-O

You need to check when this test has been posted. The FZ47 test is from 10 August, whereas the one for the FZ150 is from 06 October. Almost two months later. And don't expect old tests to be updated. ;)

    Panasonic FZ150

Yes, there was a EVF change after the FZ18. I hated it first on my FZ28 (later switched to the FZ35/38), but I'm now so used to it that it's no major problem.
