Hi can any one give me any advice,i am coming to Cornwall in Mid May and looking at places to get out for birding any help greatly appriciated i am mobile. Is the sea worth a look and if so where from. Thanks Mike
I've lived in Falmouth for nearly a year now but haven't been there during the spring yet so won't be much help.
In terms of birds you may see, I'd recommend checking the Cornwall Birding website http://www.cornwall-birding.co.uk/ (Unfortunately, it's down at the moment but I expect it will be up and working in a couple days or so). Cornwall Bird Watching and Preservation Society is also a good place to find records of more commoner species that have been reported in the county (although this website is only updated at the end of every day) http://www.cbwps.org.uk/cbwpsword/sightings/
I'd recommend a visit to any of the nearby headlands. Lizard would be a good bet with early spring arrivals (mostly passerines) such as Ring Ouzels, Black and Common Redstarts. The sea may also be a little productive with early terns, Common Scoters, possibly skuas if your lucky and maybe a shearwater or two.
