Opticron HR66 ED as a first scope? (1 Viewer)

I have the opportunity to purchase a pre owned HR66ED with a 18x54 eyepiece and wondered what your comments were as this would be my first scope.
I'm looking at paying just shy of £400 which includes a mid range Opticron tripod and head.
Is this a good purchase opportunity?

Sounds good to me. I had an HR66 years ago and it was great. I upgraded it eventually to an Opticron ED80GA ED which is now getting long in the tooth but it is still an excellent scope for my need.

Which model is it? The latest or the older version?

All I know is is that it's a HR66 GA ED.

The model is a 40198. Think this could be the older model.

40198 would be the older model and not the current version
