Birding on the porch in Peru (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I will spend Jan 2019 in Peru, travelling the country.
I'm looking for nice places to stay where it is possible to do good birding and nice walks near hotel/lodge. Paracas, Cloud forests, Amazon, the Andes. But also outskirs of towns/villages.
I'm aware of the fancy lodges, but I'm looking for more moderately priced places to stay. Hotels, lodges, hostels, homestays.

Any ideas?

Cheers

should you pass through Ollantaytambo, the pakaritampu hotel (on the road to the train station to Aguas Calientes) has Beared mountaineer in the gardens. We had a cracking male there.

The hotel itself is quite expensive, but you can ask the staff whether you could walk the garden for the hummer (it's what we did and they graciously allowed it).

We also had some 40+ torrent ducks and 5 white capped dippers on the trainride to Aguas Calientes.

KR,

filip
