Parrots in Florida? (1 Viewer)

Ok so on my way to school I've been seeing these little green birds perched on telephone wires. I always thought they were odd, but only today actually got a good look at them. They're bright green parrots/parakeets with black faces or heads. I've seen some reports of pets escaping and becoming their own wild populations, so does anyone have any theories on what these guys may be?
This is all I know about these birds:
-they are bright green
-they have black faces and/or heads
-they are about 5 or 6 inches (13-15 cm) tall, from head to tail
-they perch in small groups on telephone wires
-they may be escaped pets (because I've NEVER heard of parrots in Florida)
If anyone can help, it's very much appreciated!! :D

Hi Natalie,

Take a look at Nanday parakeet. They're common in the pet trade, but enough of them have been released in Florida that there are self-sustaining colonies, especially in the Tampa Bay area.
