Santa Clarita Valley in late March/early April (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I'll spend a couple of weeks in the Santa Clarita Valley area (I'll actually be close to Val Verde). Does anybody have good advice on interesting birding spots in this region? Many thanks!

First of all: get A Birder's Guide to Southern California. Unfortunately it does not treatthe immediate environment of Val Verde.
I hope you'll have a car...
A trip to the creepy environment of Palmdale is nice for some desert species like Sage Sparrow, and you're there in a good period for LeConte’s Thrasher (northwest of East Avenue Q & 145 Street East, I hope you'll have more luck than me).
The San Gabriel Mountains are nearby and are treated in aforementioned book. Best species here is probably Grey Vireo, but there are more attractions like Black Swift.
