Taken on the south coast of England this morning. I saw this little fly, poor thing moved slightly sideways (really slowly) when I brushed my hand against him. He seemed not to care that my cat was about to eat him.

Then I gave him some sugar water, that was more sugar than water. He ate (sucked) for a bit. Then he flew off

Is he a Syrphus ribesii male?

Photos are rubbish it was through mesh, in the fog & I'm a beginner (camera is Panasonic DMC-TZ30EB-K Compact Camera) had no time to get the proper camera.

How do I make the photos display in this thread?

You need to attach them using 'manage attachments' which will display when you post, if you don't see it underneath the dialogue box, click 'go advanced' then 'manage attachments', you've posted links rather than pics.
