Just did a preliminary test by looking through the viewfinder. The following should be noted:
1) Rubber Eyecup was unscrewed from AT80
2) Camcorder was at zero zoom
3) Lighting was poor (75 watt bulb)
4) Camcorder was handheld to scope eyepiece
5) Camcorder had UV filter attached
Initial observations:
1) Vignetting existed. A circle with diameter of height of viewfinder display was available.
2) Picture brightness was very good considering the poor lighting
Initial Conclusions:
1) With removal of the filter and better lighting, this camcorder should produce acceptable results.
Points to note:
1) Though the camcorder filter is 43mm diameter, the actual objective size is between 20 and 30 mm. The lens size appears to be comparable to the Coolpix 990.
2) This camcorder is known to be a good performer in low light for a single CCD camera
I'll be doing more testing over the next two weeks.
Hope the info. so far is useful.
