Watching the cricket at Kendal Cricket Club today I could hear some noisy Oystercatchers.
When I looked towards the long-off position there were two adults with a couple of newly fledged juveniles.
The adults spent the entire match ,on the pitch, feeding and keeping a close eye on the juveniles-one of the juveniles even managed to get some shut-eye,despite the 'action' going on all around.
They made more noise than the sleepy crowd on this hot sultry day.
It was more entertaining than the cricket!
The second time they have bred here -and it's surrounded by a busy main road, houses,a railway station and an industrial estate
