Is the White-chested White-eye extinct? (1 Viewer)

According to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 of Australia (see here: http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-b...edlist.pl?wanted=fauna#frogs that are Extinct) the White-chested White-eye is regarded as extinct. But apparently there are still reports of sightings (the last one in 2005). So is anyone here who has the most current data about the population status of this bird?

Yes, i know that Birdlife assessment (its from 2004). But they have also written that it was last seen in 2000. But, given the extremely small range and the ongoing plague of predators (rats) aswell as the competition with introduced white-eyes who can give a proper statement that this bird is still survive?
