agreed, red kite, but not so rare now, thanks to projects, they have become re-established in quite a few areas, so you should have the pleasure of seeing them more and more frequently.
 
they were realesed near Leeds, over the past few years, and are now spreading we now have them in north yorkshire, if you want a good day out try Eccup resevoir just on the outskirts of Leeds, they do guided walks.
