Finepix 2800Zoom problem (1 Viewer)

After a year of happy use my digital camera suddenly showed the 'Card Not Initialized!' sign. I changed from the large card down to the small one and that one works fine. The booklet suggested wiping the SmartMedia card - which I did, to no effect.
Anybody got any ideas what I might do?
